This is the 5th installment of “5 Things You Need To Know About Boat Engine Covers” which can be downloaded as a free eBook.
You’re probably wondering, “what do I need to do to keep my marine canvas products in proper working order?” It’s simple really! To maintain the condition of your boat engine covers:
DO buy a custom-fit cover made especially for your make and model. By doing so, you insure that your engine looks good and is well protected.
DO purchase a breathable cover, like Sunbrella marine canvas, that prevents moisture and mildew.
DO machine wash your cover in cold water, then air dry to maintain its proper fit. Or, wash with a soft brush and mild soap.
DO take your cover off when transporting your boat on a trailer. High winds could produce “wear” spots over time. Also, you don’t want to chance losing your custom cover because the wind blew it right off!
DO purchase Sun-Protect Marine Canvas boat engine covers. Since these covers are custom-fitted, your purchase ensures a perfect fit!
DO cover your engine. You are not only protecting its appearance, but maintaining it. It can help keep your boat free of many contaminates not only related to dirt and water. Leaves and bird droppings can also pose a threat to the life of your engine. Also, in the long- run, by maintaining and protecting your boat engine with boat engine covers, you could have a higher resale value.
DON’T settle for a “one size fits all.”
DON’T dry your cover in a dryer or it may shrink.
