#5: The Do’s & Don’ts of Boat Engine Covers

You’re probably wondering, “what do I need to do to keep my marine canvas products in proper working order?” It’s simple really! To maintain the condition of your boat engine covers:
DO buy a custom-fit cover made especially for your make and model. By doing so, you insure that your engine looks good and is well protected.
DO purchase a breathable cover, like Sunbrella marine canvas, that prevents moisture and mildew.
DO clean your boat engine covers about every six months to extend the canvas life.
DO machine wash your cover in cold water, then air dry to maintain its proper fit. Or, wash with a soft brush and mild soap.
DO take your cover off when transporting your boat on a trailer. High winds could produce “wear” spots over time. Also, you don’t want to chance losing your custom cover because the wind blew it right off!
